Manatuto, East Timor - South East Asia

Manatuto in East Timor has the official languages of Tetum and Portuguese that are spoken by the people of the area. Tourists will even see a large part of the inhabitants speaking the Malayo-Polynesian language Galoli, which is designated as a "national language" by the Constitution of East Timor. There is a road between Natarbora and Manatutu, used for the purpose of traveling to the various areas in and around Manatuto at East Timor. The coastal road between Betano and Natarbora is great for a smooth driving. The river between Natarbora and Viqueque is also used for getting to Manatuto at East Timor. A trip from Maubisse down to Betano, across to Natarbora and up to Manatuto can also be arranged for the convenience of the tourists. To reach Manatuto in East Timor, from Dili, travelers will take about 10 to 12 hours. There are hotels and motels located in and around the district of Manatuto for the tourists to stay comfortably and in complete relaxation. Travelers can dine in the local eateries and drink in the few bars that can be found Manatuto. A visit to this place reveals almost nothing as everything remains in an utterly damaged state and there are no major recreational or entertainment avenues. The government’s prime venture is the rebuilding of the basic amenities for the locals out here. But still the area has some parks and churches to be taken note of. There are huge salt industries along the shores and are a good source to impart management and technical knowledge. There are also many factories that consume tamarind as a raw product and shell out different varieties of processed foods like sauces, juices and even chocolates. The market places are wide and spacious with many big and small shops but there is never a specialty or uniqueness that they have on offer. There are many eateries or hotels that one can observe in this part. The food served by them is good and of the typical tradition of East Timor. A visit to the sea shore can also be a pleasant venture for a change.
