Pangrango volcanoes in Indonesia - South East Asia

Pangrango is one of the extinct volcanoes in Indonesia. It is a stratovolcano and was active during the 16th century but has experienced no eruptions for a long period of time. The idyllic beauty and the winding racks and the rugged mountainous terrain have made Pangrango one of the popular centers of trekking and hiking in Indonesia.

Pangrango in Indonesia is situated in the Jawa Barat landscape in the western part of the island of Java. It shares borders with another important stratovolcano named Gede. The volcano experienced last eruptions in the decade between the years 1748 and 1758. The eruptions were moderate in nature with very less destruction. The area around the Gede and Pangrango form the Gede Pangrango National Park. Plenty of research works have also been conducted in Pangrango to understand the exact nature of the volcano.

Pangrango, Indonesia forms a major site of the Gede Pangrango National Park. The national park is around 15,000 hectares and is home to idyllic cliffs, streams, waterfalls, lakes and rambling grasslands and woodlands. A wide variety of plants and animals can also be seen here. Tourists from all over the world come here to experience the idyllic natural surroundings.
