The easiest and most popular adventure sport in Laos is trekking, in the northern provinces. Although trekking in Laos has yet to reach the stage of being an industry as in Nepal or Thailand, there are still rich opportunities for both hiking and multi-day treks.

The far north has mountain scenery, forest areas and colourful ethnic hill tribes living in traditional villages. Although there was an initial mad rush in the late Nineties to see Laos before it's spoiled, the truth is that there has never been a better time to come to Laos to experience the tribal cultures of the north.
