There are a few theme park resorts in Malaysia that you can go for a time of fun with your family. Many of these resorts are equipped with modern facilities and built-in safety features that will make your time a memorable and an enjoyable one. There are many activities that you can do over here. Depending on which theme parks you go to, some of them have family friendly fun rides, thrilling roller coaster ride, train ride, musical fountain show, snow house, live show, water based theme park etc.

Sunway Lagoon Theme Park

Spanning an area of over 80 acres, Malaysia's premier theme park in Bandar Sunway, Petaling Jaya, has thrills and spills to offer people of all ages! Divided into three sections - the Wild Wild West, World of Adventure and Waters of Africa, a day out in Sunway Lagoon is a fun-filled encounter to remember!

In the Wild, Wild West, take a walk on the wild side, to the days where cowboys and Red Indians ruled the Western frontier. Meet with cowboys and cowgirls in the authentically-built cowboy town and enjoy old-styled salons and thrilling rides for the whole family! Other great rides include the Buffalo Bill Coaster, Butch Cassidy's Trail and Colorado Splash.

The World of Adventure offers more breath-taking rides as excitement is the name of the game here!

See majestic Bengal tigers roam in their enclosure or step into the Adventure Park and see the largest collection of scholar rocks in the world.

Ride through tunnels, bobby traps and tarantulas on the Lost City of Gold. After that, take a boat ride of a lifetime down Pirate's Revenge, Malaysia's first and only 360-degree rotating pirate ship that swivels you 24 m up the ground.

Next up is the amazing journey through the Waters of Africa! The only African-themed water park in Malaysia, the Waters of Africa has some amazing rides such as the Congo Challenge; a six-lane race where visitors can race to the finish line at speeds of 40 Km

Then there's a wave pool at Jeffrey's Bay, the largest man-made surf pool in the world. Surfers can show off their skills here during competitions to find the best surfer!

For the children, the Kalahari Kids is a special playground built to resemble an African village complete with huts and Masai warrior guarding the entrance.

Genting Theme Park

The Park is a sprawling, multi-million Ringgit theme park with over 40 rides that are either indoor or outdoor. Located 2,000 metres above sea-level on Genting Highlands, the park is easily accessed by road Kuala Lumpur or cable car from the foothill.

Some of the highlights are the roller coaster, tube drop, Flight Simulator and Splash Pool. The park is a destination for those after fast-paced excitement as it is full of amusement games, interactive rides and superb shows. There are also many restaurants and eateries inside the covered area where you can eat to your fill after some fun-filled activities.

Besides the rides, visitors can do shopping in The First World Plaza where there are over 70 outlets selling things such as trendy merchandise and fashion accessories. Don't forget that there is a Ripley's Believe It or Not! Museum located inside the plaza. For older folks, the Casino de Genting, Malaysia's only licensed casino, offers one-armed bandits, Blackjack, baccarat, roulette, keno, French bull and Tai Sai. Visitors must be properly attired while Muslims are prohibited from entering.

Finally, there is the Arena of Stars, a hall that offers a wide range of concerts staged by international superstars frequently. Magicians, entertainers, artistes and opera singers are some of the most popular invitations to the concert hall called 'The Arena of Stars'. It is usually the Chinese pop singers from Hong Kong that draw the biggest crowds.

Berjaya Hills

Formerly known as Bukit Tinggi, Berjaya Hills at 1,000 meters above sea-level brims with recreational and cultural attractions. In addition, Berjaya Hills is set among rugged hills and lush mountains, a perfect getaway for nature-lovers. Families will enjoy all that this theme hill park township has to offer.

Start your visit with the Colmar Tropicale, a French Village in Malaysia - a postcard picture come alive!, Colmar Tropicale will allow you to sample all things French, such as pizza and pastries from La Flamme Sidewalk Deli, fine dining at La Cigogne, cigars and wine at Le Vin and French bread from La Boulangerie bakery. Frequent street performances also take place in the Colmar Square, a cobblestone central courtyard surrounded by French-inspired buildings.

Then there's the Botanical Garden, which is a 4-acre park with a 1 km walkway that allows you to enjoy the sights and sounds of a tropical highland forest. There are plenty of viewing decks for you to snap pictures of the forests and also the chance to view horticultural experiments conducted here - pears, apples and seven species of strawberries!

Children will enjoy the Rabbit Park, where over 200 rabbits roam the park along with an assortment of donkeys and deer. This place is sure to attract the children who can feed and play with the rabbits, stroke the deer, ride donkeys and engage in various fun activities organised by the park.

Lost World of Tambun

The latest attraction from Sunway City Ipoh in Tambun, the Lost World is a new water theme park in Perak set to provide you a fun-filled adventure for friends and family! Nestled among lush greenery and limestone hills, the Lost World has a host of exciting activities to keep you coming back for more.

Here, find the Adventure River which is Malaysia's longest water park river ride, taking you on a relaxing and pleasant cruise on floats pass architectural landscapes on the park. It even has a wave generator to provide some fancy waves to the river flow so keep your hands on your tube!

Plummet down gigantic tubes that twist and turn for a real high-speed adventure at the section called Tubed Raiders or sail through the jungle canopy in an old mine cart after a drop from dizzying heights in a ride called the Cliff Racer.

And best of all, there is the Tambun Hot Springs where you can rest, rejuvenate and soak yourself in the warm pools fed by 100 percent natural spring water. Rich in minerals, the waters are believed to have healing properties that will enhance your body's overall health.

A'Famosa Water World

The A' Famosa Water World is located in Alor Gajah, Malacca and named after a famous Portuguese fort built in the 16th Century. Encompassing an area that exceeds 1,300 acres in size, the Water World is surrounded by a resort, 27-hole golf course, villas and other theme parks.

The A'Famosa Water World is its most famous attraction, with a variety of water slides and oils. Try out the High-Speed Slides, a pair of slides that are 7-storeys high, propelling you at immense velocity downwards. Then there are other crowd favourites like the Wave Pool, Family Raft Ride and the Lazy River, where you can ride a tube and drift down a stretch of water.

Another famous attraction is the Cowboy Town, which brings you back in time to the old days of Spaghetti Westerns. Cowboy Town features a wide variety of outlets such as restaurants, a disco, beer garden, shopping village, pub, game centre, bowling alley, children theme park and one funfair. There are frequent shows around the park with performers belting out songs on guitars and even fire-eaters!

Finally, there the A'Famosa Animal World Safari where the whole family can view an amazing array of wildlife - Over 150 species from the animal kingdom in fact. You can also get close and feed some of the animals such as rabbits, ponies and camels.

Enter a world of fun and thrills! The A' Famosa Water World is rated as one of the largest theme park in Malaysia. Especially designed for ramily recreation, the 20-acre Water World is fully equipped with international standard faciltities. There is something for everyone regardless of age. Thrill seekers can check out the high-speed water slides and water scooters. The Wave Pool gives a feeling of a beach away from the beach. You can also enjoy the longest Lazy River in the world, the highly exciting High Speed Slides and the Arabian Village.

The 'Arabian Village' is a brightly coloured playground inspired by Moorish architecture with its domes and minarets. Enjoy hours of fun as you climb up the steps, go through water tunnels or slide down water tubes and slides into the pool below.

How to Reach
The theme park is about an hour's drive from Kuala Lumpur and two hours from Johor Bahru via the North-South Expressway. If you opt for public transportation, take a Transnasional Bus at Puduraya Bus Station to Tampin Bus Station and then you might take a cab. If you're from Melaka town, you can take a bus no. 34 from Tai Lye Bus Service at Melaka Bus Station. The bus will take you all the way to this theme park, which is located near Simpang Empat in Alor Gajah.

Bukit Merah Laketown

The place is a resort-cum theme park township located along the North-South Expressway. Chief of its attractions is the water park, followed by its marina village. The inn located here is also a great place where you can indulge in activities such as golf, fishing, lakeside cruises and boat rides.

The main attraction, the Bukit Merah Laketown Waterpark comprises eight highlights, among them a Giant Wave Pool with simulated waves up to a metre high, Slow River Ride, a 300 m stretch of water where adults can drift on tubes and Raft Tube Slides. The Kid's Water Playground is a unique obstacle-course with big buckets of pouring water and water-jet guns to spray. The Giant Bubble, a first in Southeast Asia, is a Swedish-made inflated bubble for visitors to climb, bounce, slip and slide. Other facilities here include a fast food restaurant that serves western and local delights.

And then there's the Bukit Merah Laketown Marina Village which is a tourist shopping village where you can find a wide variety of shops offering items such as crafts, swimwear and suntan lotions. The restaurant Cafe Le Lac offers local and international cuisines while its bakery offers a large variety of pastries and cakes.

Bukit Merah Laketown offers you all the right ingredients to make your stay pleasurable and fun. Visitors can experience the wonders of the lake cruise or enjoy the exciting activities at the Bukit Merah Laketown Waterpark.

Marina Village for shopping, restaurants, arcade games and the Resort Activity Counter where you can book for various activities including jungle trekking, local tours, bike riding and camping.

Laketown Waterpark for all the wet thrills and spills you can handle. This is the largest waterpark in Northern Malaysia and has 8 major attractions including the very popular Wet Bubble, Wave Pool and Speed Slides. There is also a special themed kiddie's area; the Perak Mining Company.

Eco-park 'Say hello to nature'. This park has living exhibits of exotic and local birds, otters, butterflies, reptiles and primates all in beautifully themed individual aviaries. There are also daily shows you should not miss, featuring some of the talented animals. The Jungle Boardwalk is a relaxing walk on an elevated timber walkway that takes you trough the untouched natural rainforest.

Orang Utan Island Imported from Borneo, these primates now inhabit the island. It is the first natural reserve for these beautiful and rare animals in mainland Malaysia. Visitors can observe them from our special viewing platform whilst they play and entertain with their delightful lifestyle - some rare photo opportunities are also offered as each day the animals visit the platform to meet you up close.

Chairlift - This is the one of it's kind in Malaysia and transports you high over the waterpark for some breathtaking views of the resort.

Sky Cycle - Another unique way to explore the native rainforest, this time through pedal power! Another first for Malaysia, this is an elevated monorail through the tree canopy that allows riders to have a bird's eye view of the surrounds and deer enclosure whilst pedalling your own special car.

Lake Activities - Enjoy the beautiful Bukit Merah Lake by going on an exciting canoe ride, paddle boat trip or scheduled lake cruise - you may even like to catch your dinner at our fishing park that is stocked with local fish.

Laketown Inn - The inn has 174 hotel rooms and can be booked at very reasonable rates. The facilities available include in-room fridge, amenities and movie channels.

It is can also visit beautiful and traditionally preserved local attractions on two arranged tours, Kampung Selamat and Kuala Sepetang. These tours will take you through authentic postcards of Malay life including visits to a rubber plantation, charcoal factory, fishing village and demonstrations of historic matweaving, fishing and games.

Getting there
Take the North-South Highway and use the Bukit Merah Lake Town exit. The journey to the park itself is approximately 35 minutes from the Penang Bridge and an hour from the City of Ipoh. If the Federal Trunk Road is used, it takes approximately 75 minutes form the Penang Bridge and 45 minutes from Taiping.

Mines Wonderland

It is located in Sungai Besi, just south of Kuala Lumpur city. The theme park offers a variety of water sports, boat rides, light shows, a few rides and other attractions. Nearby, you will find a resort and a shopping complex.

The main attraction in Mines is undoubtedly the Snow House, which is a complex filled with actual snow that visitors and children can play in and make snowballs. The temperatures are absolutely freezing but coats are provided. Inside, admire the ice sculptures and be captivated by falling snowflakes!

A recent addition is an ice skating rink, where you can hone your skills in this graceful art form. Other things you can do include riding on trams, view animals in the mini-zoo or watch the night-time light show and procession on the lake.

Cosmo's World Theme Park

The park, the largest indoor theme park in Malaysia! Cosmo's World Theme Park, the Largest Indoor Theme Park in Malaysia has an overwhelming size of 133,000 square feet and is one of the main attractions in Berjaya Times Square.

With 14 attractive rides, Cosmo's World Theme Park is divided into 2 differently themed areas.

"Galaxy Station" is specifically targeted for adult and teenagers with 6 major rides.

Cosmo's World Theme Park is dubbed as the largest indoor theme park in Malaysia, covering an area over 380,000 sq feet in Berjaya Time Square shopping centre.

    Wet World Shah Alam

    The Wet World in Shah Alam promises families an unforgettable thrilling experience of fun and adventure! The park prides itself on its many rides and recreational facilities along with a safety standard that is world-class. This will assure parents on the safety of their children.

    Some of the water attractions include the Fountain of Youth, Cascading Waterfalls, Neptune Challenge, Atlantis City, Big Splash, Lighthouse Escape, Tunnel Water Slide, and Treasure Island. The park's main highlight is the Monsoon Buster ride, which is a 225-metre long roller coaster rider, where riders are propelled upwards by powerful water jets.

    Pedas Hot Springs, Negeri Sembilan

    Located by the main road to Rembau, the Pedas Wet World has everything you're looking for in a water theme park, promising a fun for the family. All the facilities and attractions in this park are built to fulfill the needs of visitors of all ages. For the brave and courageous, have a go at the two giant slides that will take you through twists and turns high above before dunking you into a swimming pool at the end of the ride. The conservative visitors can enjoy floating around in the man-made canal on large rubber 'doughnuts' while enjoying the warm caress of the sun and the gentle breeze on your face. A perfect way to relax! There is also a special pool for children complete with slides and floats for rent. For those who simply want to have a good swim, the main swimming pool is for you. The rolling man-made waves will prove an ideal challenge to your swimming skills. And of course, a visit to the Pedas Wet World Hot Springs would not be complete without a dip in the natural hot spring pools. There are two types of hot spring pools to choose from, so the choice is yours whether to soak along with other visitors in the public hot water pool or take a private soak in one of the many hot spring 'bathroom' facility. At about 27°C - 34°C, the naturally hot water contain minerals that is said to have healing properties - it is said to provide relief for arthritis, joint pains, body aches and a variety of skin ailments. So for those with skin irritations, do not miss out on the chance to have your own dermal hydrotherapy, particularly the hot spring footbath pool. You'll never know its benefits until you try.

    After all that frolicking in the water, indulge yourself at the fast food outlet and drop by the souvenir shop to buy a few souvenirs as a memento for a smashing, fun-filled day at Pedas Hot Spring Wet World. The shop not only sells souvenirs and gift like caps, mugs and other trinkets, but also t-shirts, towels and toiletries for those who forgot to bring them along. Swimwear is also available here.

    Entrance fees are RM5 (adults) and RM3 (children aged between three and 12) from Monday to Friday (1pm - 7pm). On weekends and public holidays (10am - 7pm), RM8 and RM5 respectively. Getting there Wet World Hot Spring Pedas is located 15km from Seremban town, along the old trunk road headed to Tampin. Alternatively, if you're using the North South Expressway, you just need to turn off at the Pedas-Linggi exit and follow the road signs to Pedas and the Wet World Hot Spring there.

    Colmar Tropicale, French theme park, Selangor

    The clubhouse makes for a rejuvenating retrea. The resort's French-themed Village or Colmar Tropicale is the major highlight. It also features a Japanese Village and a Rabbit and Deer Farm.

    Sprawled across 16,000 acres of hills and mountains, one can look forward to lush greenery here. Located 2,700-3,500 feet above sea level, the rejuvenating cool air is an incentive to come here. This 18-hole par-72 course, measuring 6,312 metres was designed by J.Michael Poellot and utilises its natural undulating surface to its best potential. Ponds, bunkers, jungles and streams challenge the average golfer to raise his game to greater heights.

    The clubhouse makes for a rejuvenating retreat after a round of golf. The resort's French-themed Village or Colmar Tropicale is the major highlight. It also features a Japanese Village and a Rabbit and Deer Farm. Recreational activities available include tennis, squash, badminton, snooker, table tennis, paintball and jungle trekking.

    Getting there
    Situated within the Bukit Tinggi Resort, this club is only 40 minutes from Kuala Lumpur and 10km off the East-West Karak Highway. It is also approximately one hour and 45 minutes from the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).

    Kajang Water Theme Park

    It's two-hectare in size, located in Kajang and is the first of its kind in the Hulu Langat district. It also guarantees visitors a day filled with adventure and excitement. Welcome to the Kajang Water Theme Park.
