Ayeyarwaddy Pagodas in Myanmar - South East Asia
Zalun Pyi Daw Pyan (Man Aung Myin Statue)During the time of Buddha He paid a visit to Danyawaddy (now Rakhine State). On His stay at Danyawaddy the King and all the disciples pleaded that an image be cast on His behalf. The King of Celestial Beings and Celestial Being Withukyon were asked by Lord Buddha to undertake the task.Firstly, they cast the Maha Myatmuni Statue out of bronze and then they used extra bronze to cast another three images. The fourth came to be known as the Man Aung Myin Statue. In 1784 AD it was taken to Amarapura by the Crown Prince, the son of King Bodawpaya. It was kept on a gold alter at the front of the palace and was known as Nan Oo Phaya until the rule of King Kanaung. In 1852 AD it was being conveyed to Zalun by the headman U Shwe Pwint of Zalun Town, but the British took it to England. They tried to melt it and hammered it to break it apart but couldn't. The English Queen started suffering headaches and nightmares and ordered the image to be returned to where it belonged, and the image came back to Zalun, Myat Maw Tin PagodaThis pagoda is located at Maw Tin Zun is or Neibban Mountain overlooking the Gulf of Muttama at the southernmost end of the Ayeyarwady Division. It was said to be built on a full moon day of Waso (June) ME 103, two months after the Buddha's Enlightenment. It was repaired and renovated by Thir Dhama Thawka who held the Third Synod and King Alaung Sithu of Bagan respectively.
