Katha in Myanmar - South East Asia
Located north of Mandalay on the Aeyarwaddy River, Katha is the site of George Orwell's famous book, "Burmese Days," A story of what life was like in a remote station during the colonial era. The town is still charming with its teak homes and quaint streets. It is also the site where, during World War II, the British scuttled 100's of Flotilla ships to deny them to the advancing Japanese army. The best way to get to Katha is by boat. Ask us about taking a reminiscent voyage up the Aeyarwaddy River to Katha aboard a restored Flotilla Ship
