Than Boddhay Pagoda

Bodhi Tahtaung and Po Kaung Taung
According to the Buddhist scriptures the Bodhi tree or peepul tree is sacred to all Buddhists because Gaudama Buddha achieved Enlightenment while mediating under this tree. Bodhi Tahtaung Sayadaw (an abbot) cultivated a fast growing forest of one throusand Bodhi trees and each tree has a large Buddha image where Buddhist pilgrims come to pay respect. Next to Bodhi Tahtaung is the Po Kaung Mountain range which is home to the world's largest reclining image of Buddha. Visitors can enter into this reclining image and walk from the head to the feet viewing metal images of Buddha and his followers in numerous gestures,
Aung Set Kya Pagoda
This pagoda, surrounded by smaller satellite pagodas, is located on the Po Khaung mountain range near Monywa. The pagoda is a famous landmark.
