One may always come into thinking that the rice terraces that we see in Banawe, is famous 8th wonder of the world, not until I saw Batad. The "The Banawe Rice Terraces" is the realy 8th wonder. The rice terraces in sorounding places may be scenic. But none can be compared to batad.

It's a common sight to see mountainsides converted into rice terraces by the native ingenuity of Mountain Province folks. But a vast mountain conversion is found in Banawe, a locality of Mountain Province. It is where a whole mountain range that stretches as far as the eyes could see functions as well irrigated ziggurats of rice fields manually engineered by native Ifugaos and Igorots. Called the Banawe Rice Terraces, it is a display of Filipino ingenuity, resolve, and brute strength. It's a fascinating destination when sightseeing in the Philippines.

Rice terraces in the mountains above the town of Banawe. Carved out of the mountains over 2000 years ago, these rice fields are considered the eighth wonder of the ancient world. These fields have recently been prepared for planting. Young seedling rice is grown in a cluster in one section of the field. It is then pulled up and individual plants are placed in the mud at intervals of five to six inches apart.
