Asian Civilisation Museum, Singapore - South East Asia
The Asian Civilisations Museum is an institution which forms a part of the three museums of the National Museums of Singapore. It is the pioneering museum in the region to specialise in pan-Asian cultures and civilisations, and contributes to the education of Singaporean heritage by tracing the histories of Singapore's forefathers who came to Singapore over the last few centuries. The museum thus specialises in the material history of China, Southeast Asia, South Asia and West Asia, where many of these early Singaporeans came from.

The Asian Civilisation Museum is a form of the three museums of the National Museums of Singapore. This is the most established museum in the region to focus exhibits and origins in Asia's cultures and evolutions. It is indeed a place to go to if you are interested in histories and origins of Singapore's forefathers who came here for the past centuries. The museum was first opened at the Old Tao Nan School Building in 1997. Then with the restoration of the Empress Place Building, the museum set up its new flagship museum on 2003. By then the branch at the Old Tao Nan School building is closed for renovation works to specialise into the origins of Peranakan History. Here, visitors can enjoy an interactive learning experience on their varying programmes of special exhibitions throughout the year. The museum also houses cafes, restaurants and a museum shop along the Singapore River.
