For those whose eyes show a glint at even a passing mention of the sparkling water and miles of powdery, smooth sands, the beaches in Singapore are nothing short of pure temptation. And when it is Changi Beach, the temptation gives way to the intense desire to be there and do that.

Changi Beach is a great favorite among the picnickers and kayakers. Some simply love to hangout with family at this popular beach in Singapore. Changi Beach offers an opportunity to engage in a wide array of activities like fishing and jogging. For whom a beach holiday implies a strict no-no to any kind of physical exertion, watching the airplanes land by simply reclining on the smooth sand, can be the perfect option. The sunrise and the sunsets are the perfect time to sneak into the beach to be witness to the beatific sight.

The beauty of Changi Beach conceals a grim history. During the time of World War II, sixty six Chinese men were slaughtered by the Japanese soldiers right on the Changi Beach. Singapore has indeed traversed many miles leaving behind the bitter memories of the traumatic days to the progressive nation that it is today. However Changi Beach is still strewn with some historical remnants in the form of the old harbor and the pedestrian bridge across Sungei Changi. The serene environs of the beach hold a special charm for those planning a beach get-together. Sample both local and western dishes at the Changi Village Hawker Center. If you want to avoid standing in the queue, it is recommended that you come in early.
