Loei in North-eastern Thailand - South East Asia
Loei is situated in the Northeast part of Thailand. But it has innumerable things in common with the Northern region such as lofty hills and mountains, cool climate with foggy touch. It is in fact defined to be the most mysterious destination of Thailand as some times temperature dips down to 0 degree Celsius. Having a 520 km distance with Bangkok, Loei enjoys footfalls of both the business and pleasure tourists. Most of the tourists come to unwind themselves in its pristine cool ambience and take delight in so called Loei Attractions.
520 Km from Bangkok and approximately 400 meters above sea level, Loei province was only relatively recently established as a tourist destination. As a result, it remains authentic and pristine. Bordering Laos, this northeastern province bears many similarities to the north of Thailand, even to the extent that people confuse its location. A place of great natural beauty and natural and cultural attractions, Loei has a rugged landscape featuring low mountains, waterfalls and vast tracts of open, fertile land forming plains that house the province's municipality and the River Loei (which flows into the Mekong). Loei is also a province of extremes, not least its climate! Loei gets cold... sometimes very cold! The temperature can drop to 0 degree Celisus in the cool season prompting the fogs and mists more associated with northern parts of the Kingdom. In stark contrast, during the hot season temperatures go off the chart and Loei becomes Thailand's warmest province. Agriculture drives Loei's economy and its rural communities remain intact tending crops as diverse as highland rice, Arabica coffee and lychees. As well as physical similarities with the north, Loei shares many cultural similarities that have blended to make the province a culturally unique part of Thailand. The province has excellent National Parks in Phu Kradung and Phu Reua making Loei an excellent place for hiking from mid-October to February. Loei is also home to the famous Bun Phra Wet Festival. There are diverse types of attractions in Loei. However, the special feature of all the Loei attractions is that they are all nature-concentrated. Some are stunning waterfalls, some are gorgeous mountainous range, some are reserves, some are parks and some are farms. Apart from these, there are some art and culture sites as well in Loei. Hence the one thing that is guaranteed on vacations in Loei is that tourists get to enjoy absolute peace and serene ambience in Loei away from the hustles and bustles of urban life. Some of the must visit tourist attractions in Loei are Phu Kradueng National Park, Chateau de Loei Winery and Vineyard, Siam Phu Ruea Orange Farm and Thai Dam Cultural Village among others. At Phu Kradueng National Park visitors come across exotic wildlife and plant life. They catch sights of rarely found species of turtle called "Tao Poo Loo" or "Tao Hang'' also. On a visit to Chateau de Loei Winery and Vineyard they get to relish the view of famous domestic wines of Loei. However, at Siam Phu Ruea Orange Farm they get a fantastic chance of buying and tasting the freshly cultivated orange. This apart, at Thai Dam Cultural Village tourists get to satisfy their love for art and culture as reflected in the items produced by Laotian villagers. Well, these are just some of the ideal examples of Loei Attractions. Attractions in Thailand
